Max Linen - Neon Lights [Phonetic Recordings]

Responsible for three Ibiza anthems (The Soulshaker, Flashback and Paradiso Del Mundo) it’s summer time and indeed that time for another Max Linen production. Featuring Luciana of Bodyrox fame on vocals and a plethora of electro tinged remixes to compliment the song, its shaping up to be a biggie. Nick Bridges from Bodyrox provides what at first seems like a slow starter, with a fairly sparse and minimal arrangement, it gradually kicks in and builds up the elements and the vocal, before launching into one hell of a deep jarring bass that’s very highly addictive. The breakdown itself is really deep and uses the full vocal, then just when its drops down, a massive surge of energy and high drive comes out and hits you and it’s oh so good. Sandy Vee has a slick as can be cutting electro house infusion of a mix, with a really powerful bass that just makes you want to dance, combined with the vocal it’s a winner straight from the start. Constant nagging sounds and building up in the backing really develops the flow and keeps it right up there with a deep almost haunting sound at times jam packed with energy for the floor. Thomas Schwartz whose recent smash “Jupiter Calling” sets the standard for his mix, and in contrast to the other mixes, a far more progressive take on things sets the tone. Using the vocal a lot and making a “floaty” journey throughout his mix it has a subtle house meets modern progressive edge/mood. Dante Lowe produces an electronic version with a catchy drum loop that’s got a slight punkish feeling to it. He uses a lot of the vocal and again picks up on a deep bass with some clever fills that punch the mood along more. Daniel Forbes makes an almost retro inspired mix which uses a very nice bass and happy up for it approach. A long vocal breakdown with plenty of happy energy and piano makes it the funky winner and has bags of uplifting blended sounds that work well for a different take on matters.

People From Mars - Just Can’t Sleep / Tubetracker [Neon Wave]

Fresh from setting up his summer hit in the shape of Robot Man’s “Ready For This” on Phonetic, Michael Gray showcases two different unique fresh grooves set to send tremors across the underground floors. The label has received support from Mark Knight, Axwell, Xpress 2, Dave Spoon, Richard Dinsdale and a whole host more, and it’s not hard to see why with this quality. Just Can’t Sleep has a really distinctive hard hitting upfront house groove which really sets a discerning dance floor alight. A tough a rugged house arrangement starts and steadily builds with some dirty effects and deep tough injected bass. The smooth refined breakdown with the male vocal, has a somewhat touching effect. It has an intensity with a deep loop behind it that runs the track and creates a real mind set to its vibe. When it kicks back in you have a simply effective cut that just works really well for a modern piece of nu-groove. The vocal completes the track and perfectly fitting. An for a further more deeper journey Michael’s Tubetracker picks up where the previous track stops and builds upon the electronic elements with lots of crafty and clever thought out sounds, some dirty and electro sounding, but not in an electro house way, think more positive electronic dance and your getting there. A tech driven bass really drives the feeling through the arrangement and makes it a hot track to have.

Marc Stage - Blush [iO Music]

A brand new iO Music offering from new kid on the block Marc Stage that apparently combines “The Clangers, a pigeon, a rave horn, broken beat rhythm and a nasty baseline into a big industrial blender”. Interesting stuff they say? German Marc discovered techno in the early 90’s and has played with some of the most talented DJs from the electronic genre, spinning next to the likes of Sven Väth, Paul van Dyk and Mark Spoon, an opportunity which made sure that Marc Stage’s DJ and production style was right up there. Blush is the first production and uses a funky but yet dark style bass line and with a catchy throbby injection and nagging space age weird tripped out sounds carries it along well. Lots of delayed effects and cutting up and down make it work well for a dance floor. With extra pads, effects and noises it’s a dirty piece of electronica. Juergens serves a tasty re-rub and introduces some funky as hell shaking drum patterns into the equation with a broody analogue bass and long windy samples with a minimal meets tech lick, the sounds all work and give it a lease of life needed with lazery up and downs. Martin Heyder chops the samples up for a fresh sharp serving of high frequency sounds, noises and clattering effects for a tech driven and shapeful version. At first it seems slightly less punchy but gradually drops into some nasty and momentous trips.

DKS - Lick My Synth [Spin Out Records]

A new addition to the Spin Out roster with Dan Smith aka DKS. Fresh from completing a degree in Music Production and various studio work, mastering he’s gained a vast skill base. For his Spin Out debut, Dan kicks off with Lick My Synth which has a full and fat throbby bass throughout, but starts with a more subtle edge and chord stabs which seem choppy all help to build it up. Slicing up the vocal it steadily gains momentum into a electronic feast breakdown with lots of cool distortion effects and a somewhat acidic house sweep which then drops back into the groove to finish it off for good measure. Justin Robertson starts the remixes off and opts for a slick electro inspired version with that special Robertson touch of many influenced genres, with sparse use of the guitar riff and a happy medium paced mix not to slow, but not to over the top. Incorporating some cooler sounds, effects and melodies he’s done a nice job. London based duo 2’s Company provide the underground treatment with a tech house meets modern techno version. With a clean and bouncy drum, and some pulsating deep dirty bass that slowly opens up into a smooth groove, very laid back in some ways, but cleverly worked for the dance floor. Future Funk Squad finish it off with a pure breakbeat version, heavy dark screahing sounds and tight as hell percussion with strong bass just sits there all intermingling until the filth starts, and distorted guitar loops with a saw styled bassline just broods pure underground darkness, heavy stuff.

John Dahlback - Pyramid [cr2]

Swedish John Dahlback to many has had less of the limelight compared to the Swedish House Mafia, at 22 he really is one of the younger producers who has spent most of his time in the studio rather than touring. With releases on Turbo, Joia and Brique Rouge among others and running 3 of his own labels Dahlback Recording, Jackmoves and Pickadoll the good times are set to keep rolling. ‘Pyramid’ is a subtle blend of synthy driven house, staying melodic throughout is a steady beast with a cool edge that sits in your mind and lets you go on a nice little trip with some good highlights. The synth really carries the track along and has a really effective musical uplifting mood created to it. Inspired music again from Dahlback. Dirty South provides the remix and whilst he adds some much needed mainstream appeal, there are also some old school piano hooks and trademark breakdowns for a more accessible version with the Dirty South kick that drives along. I chose this mix as the strongest for my floors due to the slightly more accessible vibe he’s created, but would play the Original mix on a far more deeper floor anyday.

Eddie Thoneick - I Wanna Freak You [cr2]

Described as “Everyone’s favourite RnB guilty pleasure is back in a big way” German house don Eddie Thoneick has delved into the archives and utilized the classic Jodeci track for an essential re working. Receiving unbelievable feedback from Roger Sanchez, Axwell, Erick Morillo to name a few with a chorus everyone is so familiar with and a beat that is just pure uplifting, it could be a crossover hit this summer. Dj Delicious provides, for me, the best strongest dirty dance floor mix with a pulsing jarring bass and tough intense sound with a killer deep flow, working out the sheer peak time mood to full effect. Nice long percussive drums with effects splashed over the top and a deep tough bass work the track into the vocal snippets it’s somewhat dark and works to its favour. Kurd Maverick returns for a deep floaty house chunky version. Using different parts of the vocal to start with until turning it back around and use the full lyrics with a kind of progressive element to there backing and some long ramping up sounds all help to make it kill the floor on the kick back in. DONS & Dbn partner up yet again for deep dark peak time euphoric house with a deep kick and moody edge with pulsating synths and slow bass that all kicks and nags the mind for a very effective rendition. Two further mixes from Francesco Diaz & Young Rebels and Dohr & Mangold opt for a deeper tribal kicked subtle sound and go for the late night mixes in every way, a solid remix package for most floors.

Murk - If You Really Love Someone [cr2]

With the second re-release from the legendary Murk Records catalogue after last years smash update of Funky Green Dogs “Reach For Me” Ralph Falcon and Oscar G are hardly a pair that need an introduction. With a massive number of #1’s in the US Dance Chart and indeed four singles from one album at #1 they have played a major part in the development of house music over the years. The Original shows the true sound Murk are famed for, deep tribal drums with pulsating basslines, melodies and soulful vocals. After his amazing remix of “Reach For Me” Cr2 enlist Paul Woolford for the main hitting remix duty, and Paul’s 11 minutes of Magic mix is the highlight on the package. A slow broody bubbling piece of electronica inspired house with a cool modern flow and edge. Pulsating the bass like Murks Original but adding deep dark effective sounds and pick ups all develop the mood this is one for those long haul late night sessions.

Charlie G - Synchronicity [CGI Records]

The South West’s youngest fresh faced future trance prospect Charlie G unleashes his second Original track on his own CGI Records outlet, which has already gained two consecutive Judge Jules Radio 1 plays. For such a young name, Charlie likes to keep himself busy with a successful DJ schedule, production, label manager, promoter and even has obtained a monthly slot in iDJ. Synchronicity showcases some of Charlie’s tech trance injected power with cracking bass-lines and bags of dance floor energy. Starting off with a good pace, and uplifting loops to tease you into the main track later on which steadily builds and gathers a momentum with a nice bass. A tingling and somewhat refreshing breakdown with eerie droplets floats around your head before the tech infusion and the power it brings slams back in for a solid result and impact to the dance floor again. Joey 'Chopperchunk' V opts to take you down and deep with a big broody mix right from the start. Harsh pumping up of the Original elements to warp it up a notch and add some added pressure early on really works. It’s a somewhat futuristic belting tech roasted cut, with a sinister almost in places feeling to the mood he’s brought out whilst utilizing the refreshing pieces from the Original. Japan's Remo-Con pushes once again further with lots of percussive drums rolled up and down with cascading effects and falls into the tech dance sound of now. A pulsing and clever building mix subtly works along into some cool extra use of new elements and a really grasping fresh breakdown that’s got a good happy and up for it approach. Lots of picking up launches it back in and steady build-ups bring it to a grand finish.

Maal - Nobodys Sayin [Phonetic]
A firm favourite for Space Ibiza Terrace Resident Jon Uylsses and slamming for Bodyrox at last years Global Gathering, it wont be long until you see many more A listers jump on the bandwagon as we see Phonetic providing a giant big room houser with a cool twist in its original guise. Additional mixes are supplied by Daley Padley, Junkyard Dog, Daniel Forbes and Andrea Bolchi & Ondbraio. The Original Loft 17 3am mix kicks off with a deep charging bass and an almost tech infused slant too, which when the bass changes turns really big and chunky. Some filtered extra sounds lift it further into the breakdown which has a deep eerie feeling with a haunting effect and vocal to boast too. A cool guitar adds a real different dimension to the track. Charging along with the bass driven edge you have one refined highly effective floor burner at peak time for those late nights to pull out of the CD wallet. Daley Padley starts off the remixes with an underground moody working. A cool looping flow runs through, and a clean clear bass with a slow but sure effect into the long breakdown that on kicking back in refreshes the mind works very well. Using a modern nu breed sound it sits somewhere in amongst the varied tech house and crossover genres. Junkyard Dog opts for a more electronic broody slant and picks up on the bass for a more electro house meets electronica styled feeling to the journey. Keeping the bass bubbling away it gradually intensifies along into the deep breakdown where the effect of the vocal fits perfectly. Daniel Forbes slams some percussive house at you and pads the mix out before even going near any of the original elements and uses a real body jarring bass that sounds very phat and funky alongside the drums. Slamming the bass right up and working it down for the break it’s a clever mix. Finishing it off with the Italians Andrea Bolchi & Ondbraio who veer down an alternative path, with a deeper again version. Falling somewhere in between minimal and more experimental sounds they have utilized the haunting edge of the track and brought out a more gentle mix that will appeal to a different mindset and refined tastes.

Richard Dinsdale - Blitzkrieg [Spin Out Records]
From the title I was expecting something a bit different to the usual Dinsdale sound that we’ve come to love, maybe a bit more deeper underground again to recent times, and here we go again with a dirty crunching throbby groove. A cool swinging beat with a twisted groove melody and cranking slamming energy for the dance floor kick off the track and some tweaking with that uber relentless bass line and high spacey sound effects really work well. Subtle filters here and there all add to develop the flow and all the usual Dinsdale production tactics and skills are utilized for a brooding late night vibed track. Trevor Loveys provides the first remix, and adds a chunky broody electro take on matters. At first the track sits there and steadily builds and broods before an intensity hits you and a freaking bouncing bass collides with sharp snappy synth hits. For me, it’s pretty much the obvious choice of the mixes to drop at peak time with a jam packed energetic busting feast of sound that simply rocks, it won’t fail you. Jon Gurd yet again enthrals me with his new age dubby trippy dark techy house with more nagging sounds. He always builds and creates large long intensities, and this is no exception. Very swish and using the spacey sounds and noises to full effect he’s opted for a bass moving refined tech workout that just doesn’t disappoint. Australian Mic Newman finishes off the package and continues to make his mark with more underground sounds and genres. Key releases on Great Stuff, 8 Bit remix on Toolroom and Pete tong support he’s making a good wave. A heavily pure underground version backed with heavy bass and bleepy noise rhythm really works and adding the energetic break keeps the heads simply satisfied.

Steve Noxx - 100 Degrees Of Noise [Phase Seven Records]
Folllwing on from Will Gold's "Empty promise" Welsh production scorcher NuSense aka Steve Noxx is the main man behind the next instalment of filthy laden tech trance supported by Mark Sherry, Vinylgroover, K90, SVD, Dr Willis and many more. Steve's Original mix kicks off with his firing tough and rugged drums and kicky stab loops with a swishy build-up into another broody dark but dirty and filthy raw bass that drives along and charges up the pressure cooker. Having quite a funky chunky almost roll to the whole of the track it works very effectively and has lots of little changes to lift you up further. A nice female distant vocal enhances the breakdown and then the extra large bass pitches up and drops for some tough energy to the end. Dj Choose provides the remix, and in true style that he's become known for, smooth rolling ultra cool high thought out main room energetic trance. Providing both Vocal and Instrumental version it’s the usual banging but classy Choose bass line that works wonders and blistering uplifting tints that strive to push things forward with an awesome refreshing effect. If you’re looking for a straighter down the line trancer then this is the one for you, and if you fancy some nu breed edgy style, Steve’s Original mix will work wonders.

Electro F - Superstar Break [Houserulez]
The ever growing popular Twocker return for a smashing tough killer bass driven and relentless energetic warbling dirty electro inspired remix. Using the vocal sample to full effect they’ve created a dirty synthy bass monster with a cool flow and slamming vibe and cool energy. It glides and belts along the mix really well and the floor too with its peak time direction. A nice and deep darkish breakdown with a haunting element also compliments the bass slams and then you have it again, a Twocker floor filler. Other mixes are supplied by Mic Newman and Silosonic who each add another good re interpretation to the equation but Twockers for me, has set the standard.

Leonid Rudenko - Song For Ya [Fektive]
Fektive continues its trend of cooler floor material and sounds, with currently right now two tracks in the Beatport Top 10 as well, its clear to see why with great original productions. Leonid’s Original mix is an amalgamation of chunky house with dirty and electro stabbing parts for extra measure. Some nagging screeching sounds and effects add a cool flow and vocal vibe throughout the track. A refreshing piano breakdown really touches the spirit and uplifts your mind in a positive manner. On noticing who the remix is by, I quickly however turned my attentions forthwith. The main remix comes from a man at clearly, the top of his game, Thomas Gold, who literally can turn his hand at anything and provide a killer re interpretation for any dance floor. From commercial cheese remixes to club bangers, he’s already done it all and this track again utilizes a strong chunky driving Gold bass that always pushes and enthrals the energy levels in the mix, and results in a cool hitting effect for the dance floor. As per all his productions a clear, crisp and great sound quality in the production is continued and allows you to perfectly immerse yourself in the tracks vibe. I felt that Thomas’s mix had a far more club approach and indeed level with a slamming hit to it and good solid vocal use that directs the track in the right manner. Another top release..

Dom Kane - EP [Fakt]
Hailed by many already as a distinctive member for the nu-skool dj and producers Xeton Records owner Dom Kane certainly never fails to make an impressionable mark on the dance floor with gritty dirty beats. Past releases on 852, Erase, Fat! and many more have secured an army of fans, and this Fakt! EP will continue that trend. After blending up house, through to electro and 4/4 floor breaks on his previous hit remake of Orbital’s “Halcyon” and gaining vast support from James Zabiela, Hernan Cattaneo, Sander Kleinenberg, Sasha, Matt Darey, Paul Van Dyk its certainly easy to see what’s going on… Dom Kane’s is, that’s for sure. Smoke Machine kicks off with an enthralling and totally driving bassline with a heavy mind printed carved and cutting approach. A smooth rolling kick works alongside to propel the extra sounds and effects that glisten through the speaker cone. Tripped out elements get thrown into the pot and work well with the phat bass. Barion Genisis has a more housey bass with a cool chunky floating point that intensifies into some obscure sounds and noises that screech up and down with some killer touches aimed perfectly at the dance floor with cascading effect and before you realise you’ve been taken down another trip to Kane land.

Roar & Baumgartner - The Beat [Phonetic]
It’s fair to say I’m a bit of a fan of this label and Rob Roar’s A&R approach to the business, so, as ever, with each new release there’s always a high level of anticipation as to what I shall be treated to. Produced by Rob Roar (one half of Max Linen) & Felix Baumgartner who currently remains as an alter ego of a well known producer, The Beat kicks off with a brilliantly fresh house stance. Current spins from the key players include Peter Gelderblom, Roger Sanchez, Erick Morrillo, The Scumfrog, Allister Whitehead, Noir and a whole host more. The track incorporates a live double bass which is designed to impact on the dance floor for an extra touch and unique experience which is brought out with a catchy female vocal resting upon punchy drums and percussion. It has a hypnotic edge with a loopy groove and burns a cool impression on your mind with the lyrics of “the drums keep pounding the rhythm to my brain” which really work alongside the live bass. The energetic arrangement ensures a solid reaction each and every time off the dance floor. Pushing the tempo and flow straight into the big room you have a track for the more discerning ears and feet for sure. Further mixes are supplied by Turbofunk who add a slick deep funk laden body grooving mix layered with great use of the bass and a far more eclectic offering in style with some added effects and stabby sounds and nagging noises for full effect. Air Bureau develop from the original further again with an uplifting chunky house take and keep the bass held for longer in parts with other elements brought in for a strong fluid build-up and winding breakdown that hits back in with a nice slamming refreshing edge. Josh Nordlander opts to provide a bubbling chunky modern house version with some nice electronic touches and seems to create a different bass to build upon taking the track down a different path, which results in a nice mid set mix I felt. With Bodyrox, Another Chance, Martijn Ten Velden and many more already in the Phonetic ranks, its shaping up for another storming year.

Glenn Frantz - Spacebar / Backspace [Fektive/Deep End]
Fektive Records first came to my attention via the massive JS16 “Rosegarden” which intermingles techy dance with house and a broody electronica background, with this in mind; I was very pleased to see another instalment. The philosophy behind Fektive is thinking creative, acting distinctively and producing music to fill the floors, and with a young and dynamic team in the background they are pushing the boundaries of dance and its genres. For the next release, Malta based producer Glenn Frantz steps up to the table with 2 underground dance floor fillers. His previous releases have been supported by Armin Van Buuren, Markus Schulz, Gabriel & Dresden and many more. Spacebar starts with a cooler deep style; it fits in a very progressive house state and a tough bass with subtle keys building away. Constantly bubbling and brooding it gathers momentum into a breakdown which veers into deep progressive trance. It cleverly has several genres elements thrown in and mixed very well and this really does mean several cross plays and will suffice in many sets of house, progressive, and deep trance Dj’s. A strong kicking sound throughout means it doesn’t just float over you head and has a nice constant energy to the whole track. Backspace opts for a much deeper vibe; again a killer and really strong electronic bass drives the track forward with a deep techy progressive sound. A deep breakdown takes you down into an almost haunting at times direction, but just when the track drops back in, the bass and sounds really collide and add a depth that really works to push it forward until the end and yet another cool underground floor track is created.

Will Gold - Empty Promise [Phase Seven]
Phase Seven Records debut launches with some techy electro trance business. The label is the brainchild of Welsh production whiz NuSense, who has knocked up numerous infamous Radio 1 plays from Judge Jules with his Original productions, to his cheeky bass laden dance floor bootlegs. Support has come in so far from Marco V, Vinylgroover, Steve Mac and many more and it’s hard to not see why. The Original mix starts with some cool tech trance beats and electro stab sounds with a cool vocal looped up that creates a nice lead into the more traditional trance territory. An epic breakdown really takes you down and into a break beat-esque style loop with lots of sounds and extra effects and suddenly you are hit with an ever cooler bass lick that really picks up after the trance element and back to those electro stab sounds on top it all flows and works suitably well on the floor. The roll of the tech trance style has a great effect on this track. Steve Noxx provides the alternative mix, in a shapely form of twisted peak time club dirt. Heavy tough house meets electro is combined, and results in an injected paced version with lots of drive. The epic breakdown is retained and acts as the subtle drop of energy to refresh your mind before a momentous bass builds up and kicks back in for full effect. Easily pleasing the house and electro Dj’s, but also the tech / electro trance jocks as well it has a solid crossover point that will secure many plays.

Mac + Taylor - Dirty / Devistation [Couture]
London based Couture recordings run by Claudia Cazacu provides a quality ninth release from Mac + Taylor. They are no newcomers to the label, having released the awesome 'Twisted' which received a solid amount of DJ Support. “Dirty” starts off with a gritty tech trance diverse floor track. Incredibly catchy vocal stabbing with the pulsing beat makes it really groovy and dancey for the floor. A firing deep dark broody intense sounds builds into the breakdown and then you get some tech rolling drums that just carry it along and add that real zest for the masses. On the flipside “Devastation” is more full throttle from the off, with one hell of a distorted resonating bassline and loaded with mammoth percussion and stabs it’s bubbling electro tech trance all the way and doesn’t disappoint. Absoultely killer at the right time of night, watch the floor ignite.

Jes - Heaven [Magik Muzik]
The famous voice of Gabriel & Dresden's classic "As The Rush Comes" returns to the forefront of Magik Muzik for another massive vocal trancer that’s already received support from Tiesto, Mark Norman, Johan Gielen, Phynn, Cor Fijneman, Preach, Mr Sam, Cosmic Gate, Progression, Ton TB, Armin van Buuren and many more. Riley & Durrant and “Moonlight Party” Fonzerelli are responsible for the 2 remixes. Fonzerelli really opts for a happy and uplifting house version. Using the full vocal to great effect and in turn grabbing the sounds to a proper funky house slanted mix. As ever, that usual distinctive sound he manages to create is performed again, and sits so perfectly with Jes’s vocal for a warm re interpretation this winter that finds this trance track achieving many cross dance floor plays. Riley & Durrant slam a different take on the song, and there’s no straightforward kick and beat to leads you from the off, but instead a guitar based intro which really works out a great and cool vibe. Teasing the vocal and then launching in what seems like a incredibly catchy hook based bass, not totally stereotypically straight forward trance as you are probably expecting, its great to see some different sounds and direction from the duo. This mix is simply huge on the dance floor! Backed alongside Fonzerelli’s happy house mix, it’s a strong release. .

Janders - The Dover Ep [Confortably Numbed]
One of the freshest talents from down under in recent times Jesse Sanders A.k.a. Janders returns to Comfortably Numbed after an impressive debut on the previous EP "That Hurts”. Starting things of with “Dover” you are treated to a track that sits somewhere in modern tech meets almost electro infused house. Pure Underground orientated, it’s a state of mind you’re listening to as well as some darker broody beats. What sits on a minimal backing then utilises a tripped out approach and twisted edged elements for a unique inspiring track. Alex Kenji provides the first remix of “Dover” and as current word trends dictate it’s a “wobbly” slice for sure. Opting for a hypnotic slant and solid groove led dirty version, it’s a little more developed and reaches into the techno heads sounds much more. With speaker jarring sounds and effects throughout he’s managed to pick up on the best unique original elements and slammed it into later night dance floor territory. Mr. Elastik finishes off “Dover” with a blip twisted offering to contrast against the previous mixes and take you down deep and dirty into the other side for some weird and cunning beats and strong energy. “Dusted” finishes of the EP and has a different feeling to “Dover” cut up vocal effects and changing cranking beats and effects make it very interesting for the floor. A cool bass slams the track into realms that just push your mind further and further and almost messes with it so much at points, it’s like you’ve lost your head.

Deadmau5 - Aguru [Songbird]
Canadian Deadmau5 literally has taken the dance community by storm with such a host and variety of both original productions and remixes with Dj support from both traditional Dj’s to the nu breed, a long and prosperous future is in the pipeline. Arguru has already achieved a slow burner status within the Original mix being played and supported by house, trance and progressive fans. Already amassing a huge number of hits on the Deadmau5 Myspace music page, it’s clearly not going to go away. The Original mix, has a deep hitting dark moody electro based house sound with a peak time tough-ish sound too all thrown in. Opting for a floaty aspect to it as well, with a gentle sounds cape that picks up on the bass we get taken more into progressive territory. As per all his offerings, it’s another fine peak time track. EDX 5un5hine mix starts the new mixes, and it has a wee bit more energy levels upped that I like a lot with a chunky progressive slant throughout, but still retains a lot of the originals vibe. The bassline seems to be more hooky and dancey and works a lot better for me and sounds more solid groove led. The Progression remix has what seems like a full throttle take on matters with a uplifting and very driving beat and takes you on a far more trancey based trip that’s dark, deep and somewhat tasty for the heads and lifts the originals vibe into realms that the other mixes do not achieve in my opinion.

Russell G - Darkroom [Songbird]
Midlands based Russell G recently debuted on Whoop! Records with “Led Astray” and “Lose It” which received rave reviews and support from Tall Paul, Redanka, Tom Stephan & Sonny Wharton. Russell first started djing in 1998 after attending clubs such as Godskitchen & Gatecrasher and was by inspired by the Dj’s he was hearing then such as Paul Oakenfold, Tall Paul & Sasha. Songbird is proud to present the follow up with “Darkroom” which continues in Russell’s own style of house which has a distinctive modern chunky progressive house edge. His Original mix has a cool deep bass driving feeling with strong chunky drums and a really clear drive with tripped out delayed vocal that suitably all fits well together and a flows into a deep haunting breakdown with a tingling fresh feeling. Broadly speaking its progressive house, but the bass and sounds used are far more current and up to date and develop it further. Andy Duguid provides the remix treatment, and opts for a real progressive orientated remix, picking up on Russell’s original vibe and furthermore bringing out the best elements and turning up the heat with some speaker freaking sounds and effects that add with a constant drive and utilizes a nice bass again to bring out the best for the dance floor. Even though his mix starts off feeling slower and more subtle, it builds the momentum to a slightly more frenzy when it kicks back in, then the vibes complete.

John Dahlback - Belly Button / Song For Djingis [Blackhole]
Swedens John Dahlback really needs no introduction after his awesome run of fresh tracks and remixes, and after featuring on In Search Of Sunrise 6 with his “Don’t Speak” they thought it would only be right to get a follow up. In contrast to his pounding electro heavy and dirty sound, we are treated to a more subtle peak time sound. Belly Button starts matters off with a deep bubbling and building almost chilled meets progressive filled sound backed with a cool synth that kicks in to a charged deep drive. It slowly builds to a release of total fresh and inspiring happy uplifting vibes that spiral around your head. Song For Djingis takes what seems like a laid back approach to house, with touches of progressive added too, another unique breakdown forms the main focus of the track, that glides effortlessly along and sits with a chunky almost funky groove and beat. Great to see a slightly different direction from John..

Alex Kunnari – Lifter [Songbird]
Finland’s Alex Kunnari slams out a fresh piece of driving and uplifting trance with a hefty remix package from JS16, Paul Webster, Miika Kuisma and Joonas Hahmo. Previously Alex has produced tunes under the name Modulation and his first tune in the UK cool cuts chart the tune peaked number and DJ magazine rated it as a 5/5 star tune and Muzik magazine gave 4/5 stars to it. After the first release Alex went on to remix for well-known artists. Lifter has a really cool fresh trance sound and energy; an electro carved bass drives the main focus of the track with an uplifting synth line running through the track. A really gentle breakdown drops back into the hitting bass and makes the gentle soundscape of the breakdown then have a stronger impact. Very catchy and full of happy edged vibes. Paul Webster who’s caught the masses attention with a remix of Warrior “If You Want Me” and a plethora of Original tracks that followed gives for me, the best trance remix, tough and tight driving drums sit with the synth and the lector bass but he’s padded out the sounds much more and built upon them and really made a tougher impression and slams the energy levels to the max and adds a proper dancey big room feeling. JS16 provides a dirty, chunky and far more house styled mix in contrast to the other mixes. Sitting further into techy dance then just trance it has a really cool electro feeling to it and it chugs along and seems to have a more groove led element to it for the floor. Little changes here and there add for the variety and keeps the direction in tact. Utilizing the trancey elements still in the mix you have a far more unique sounding mix that could easily get cross plays and different times of the night. Miika Kuisma changes the vibe of the original and gives a deep charged wobbling mix with a floaty progressive meets trance backing and uses cool pads to carry the track along. Joonas Hahmo finishes things off with a happy rendition and uses the originals best bits and builds a more chunky progressive trance version..

Phynn - This Is The Time [Blackhole]
Finally providing a very nice follow up to his former hit ˜C U Smile” Phynn has done it again and has included some serious sounds and offers a slightly different direction to the typical trance sound. Phynn describes that he wants to achieve “making good music every dj can play! No boundaries!”. Phynn has been involved with music from a young age and has learnt to play several musical instruments. And it’s this concept that Black Hole Recordings have picked up on and exclusively signed Phynn’s tracks. With a wide supported by the worlds leading dj's such as label owner Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Paul van Dyk and Judge Jules there’s a great future to be had. This Is The Time kicks of with a firing pace of hitting drums and mega bass that charges along with a full flow drive, nice changes here and there keep it interesting while the main focus of the tracks is gradually brought out. A cool effect slams into the trance synth used and with minimal fuss just glides along. Opting for no longish breakdowns and just maintaining the energy levels throughout high it’s defiantly aimed right at the floor.

Johan Gielen - Okinawa Sunset
[Tunes For You]
Belgium born Dutchman Johan Gielen is certainly no stranger in the world of trance. Taken from the successful artist album “Revelations” which was released in 2006, the label has now featured three new banging remixes from Yonaguni, Andy Duguid and Tom Cloud. Andy Duguid creates a well carved progressive touching uplifting trance mix and adds a developed bass and brings out some key changes to the track making it much further cooler on the floor. Instead of just using the main focus of the Original he’s brought out the elements to sit each in there own place and keeps a lasting impression on your mind. Yonaguni adds a really fresh energetic sound with constant uplifting trance flow and direction. Jam filled with the originals vibe and sounds but slightly later night and more cutting on the floor with loads of inspiring and deeper sounds. Tom Cloud has given it a progressive trance makeover and produces in turn a subtle changing mix with a moody but lifting bass and direction that’s very harmonious and stays in a floaty happy place. All of the mixes keep the Original's feeling in tact and offer something different.

My Digital Enemy - Time To Freak [CDR]
Brighton-based trio My Digital Enemy return with another sure fire club stormer after the previous hit “Wasted” on Used & Abused Music. This time around Harry, Segal and Keiron fire up a blend of trash-electro with the aptly titled ‘Time To Freak' that’s already amassed support from Sander Van Doorn to Sarah Main. The Original mix kicks off with a powerful vocal telling us ‘Its Time to Freak’ with a catchy as hell hypnotic bass that builds nicely. Punchy drums underlie the arrangement with some cool electro effects and sounds that are very chunky and warble through the speakers with great depth. Any house and electro set right now will make easy use of this and it simply works. Prok & Fitch supply the first remix, and if you’re a keen music buyer from recent times you would have noticed the duo’s outings on a whole host of labels from broody underground offerings to the more accessible. There remix is a slightly more stripped back slanted mix compared to the Original. Jam packed with reverb, synthy strings and a cool as you like breakdown, this one is pure techy deeper penned from the start with lots of subtle effects and a sublime deep but warm bass that bubbles along nicely, compared to some of their recent work they’ve crafted a more grown up sound. Fans of the more nu breed edged sounds will probably go for this offering. Finishing things off, My Digital Enemy provide a remix under their ‘Machines Welding Weapons’ guise. Flipping out the Original’s style and sound, this time you get a beat feast of a bleepy breaks with a heavy bass line that’s less 4/4 structure and has a more breaks feeling and style. Darker and more intense moody sounds also compliment the vocal of ‘Its Time to Freak’. After the success of ‘Wasted’ the trio seem to show no signs of slowing down.

Def Jaguar - Chick 1 [iO Music]
With a continuing assault on all things modern and nu-breed in dance music iO certainly have already made a fair indent into many Dj’s cases and wallets with a blistering selection of quality underground tunes. Norwegian duo Dj Mikkas and Dane Lars B make up Def Jaguar and have been producing for 6 years with key releases on Voodoo, Schallplatten, Get Physical and many more. Chick 1 takes us on a journey into super cool house with a strong remix package. Tronik Youth provides a choppy cut up styled slant, with a nagging edge to the bassline and acidic edge that just works really well and cool effects to the vocal make it quite techy driving and easily fitting into house to more techno minimal and more style sets. Djuma Soundsystem takes us down a hefty length version at 10minutes with an intelligent techy roller with a very minimal sounding edge that’s taken forefront. At times it almost feels chill out in style with many down tempo influences. Working the best elements of the original out and into a more subtle sounding mix. Swen Webber gives it a much more injected kick and release of energy with a tasty driving dirty bass line that just broods and builds to an intensity with subtle pick up effects and sounds that all work together and create an atmosphere. When the killer bass slides out into the equation, it’s simply huge. A rather fittingly deep dark breakdown leads back into a cool dirty track.

Juergens - Love It [iO Music]
If you like your minimal, progressive, electro style beats then you’ll probably love this one from Peter Juergens who’s previously graced Low Spirit, Audio Therapy, EDM, Superstar and more plus co-productions with Oliver Moldan. iO Music are sure this is going to end up being one of “the” minimal tunes of the year due to the originals take on crafted chords and utilizing space with its mood that takes you away on a journey into soundscapes. EVA from the Kris Menace studio stable provides the remix and a much more cutting feeling, straight away upping the pressure with a more full on approach, tougher beats and adding a greater depth to the sounds ensuring it reaches new heights and maximum potential with a sweeping effect. Break beat-esque beats collide with the chords and a retro chunky house beat for a totally different trip on the Original. Let your mind be free.

G.T.O - Pure [iO Music]
At the start of the year iO released the anthem Tricky Disco with absolutely stonking remixes that totally knocked the living sh*t out of the sound system. Well to finish off the year we are treated to G.T.O (aka Lee Newman and Mike Wells) who released music under many guises including Tricky Disco, so there’s the link. Greater Than One refers to there original project formed in 1985 for performance art, recordings and installations. Germany’s Great Stuff Swen Webber and Plato (aka Mijk Van Dyk) are called upon to update this instalment for the new generation. Swen Webber has been a firm favourite of mine for this year with great remixes. Here we are yet again not failed and he takes us on another journey to the depths of electronica in its modern form with a cool as hell peak time chunky workout. Nice synths bed the track with a slick bass added for that Swen measure and effect. A nice deep breakdown and build-up carries the track along and he’s managed to create a simply great modern house track that should fit into a lot of set variations. Plato opts for an intro that’s deep dark, moody, quirky all in one and totally different. Dark pulsing drums and bass vibrate along nicely with stabby intensifying sounds for extra measure. This ones is definitely for the heads out there and suitably caters in all ways with an inspiring unique mix.

Splittr - All Alone [Eye Industries]

Months back a track surfaced produced by Dutch maestro Martijn Ten Velden and one half of the Stanton Warriors Mark Yardley. The result of them teaming up for the first time as Splittr had a melting pot of a dance rock fusion of electronic music. The Original was a really simple but yet highly effective track with a cool bassline that drives the track forward into a really deep male vocal, which co-works alongside the arrangement. The result together made a very moody song, with a darker edge, that was very hitting on the floor, again very simple, but catchy. After many key supporters and plays Eye Industries return with there A-Star Michael Grey to provide the remix, and taking a little more of an updated sound, Michael does a deep chunky throbby mix, looping the vocal up and teasing it out into a more frenzy vibe and tasty effects and dirty bassline just carries it along. Shadowdancer does the remix it hell approach and adds a killer slick analogue bass and lots of energy and changes throughout which keeps it interesting. Style wise it verges into the nu-rave area as well and that is probably this mixes key difference, less of the straight up 4/4 style and fashion and adopts a far more electronica element.

Mr. Brown - The Angry Kids vs. Bob Marley [CD-R]
Serving up a delightful use of the legendary Bob Marley on vocals we get treated to a uplifting pure quality house infused vibed track. In the past you would probably shy away from it, but fear not with remixes from Dylan Rhymes, The Trackheadz, Ny2K and TDB you’ve got some special sounds for you ears. Dylan Rhymes adds his deep breaks slant style to the proceedings resulting in a tasty 4/4 structured mix, but has the hint and cuts of his breaks feeling and cool subtle effects keeps it more underground then anywhere else. The Trackheadz offer a more bumpy traditional house mix in the approach but has a cooler pickup and flowy sound with a lot of nice energy that works really well and is effective alongside the vocal. A nice deep dancey bass compliments the whole arrangement and keeps it for the floor. Ny2K’s mix goes in a different direction and has a floaty bubbling progressive edge to it almost, with a more later night sounding mix. A cool bass that swishes around your head really works and gives it that different edge compared to the other mixes on offer. TDB supply a vocal and dub mix in a darker dirty edged penned mix with lots more electro styling then its other remixers and adds a nice depth to the whole thing, if the vocals not to your taste the dub mix is huge.

Playground Furies - Oh Yeah [Phonetic]
With a highly successful label catalogue behind them, Phonetic Recordings present a unique off shoot to exist with the flagship Phonetic. PhD being simply digital means a more rapid turn around then traditional vinyl or CD. Past history dictates a full quality approach, so what do we get for the launch? The Playground Furies aka Michael Woods is no stranger to the dance community with storming productions and remixes all across the board (plus the recent house smash Out Of Office – Hands Up). And it’s the latter that we stay tuned to, another full on firing club belting hypnotic number from Woods. With support from Oliver Lang, Trophy Twins, Eddie Thoneick, Trent Cantrelle and many more already it’s no wonder why. A really effective bass keeps a solid groove right from the start, layering up into the vocal with incredibly catchy sounds and effects that almost nag your mind and command your body to move. It results in a simple hypnotic feeling into the vocal that just carries it along very nicely. If the vocals not to your taste the Instrumental is available as well where you can just get your groove on to the music. The whole track has a nice energy to it with a quality chunky driving mood that definitely makes you toes tap and feet move. One for the wallet!

George Morel - Can't Let Me Down [Mn2S]
Purveyors of the finest house music Mn2S have been boasting worldwide club nights and tours alongside there fledging label. With only the best, you get George Morel and yet again a name enriched in the house history roots (Strictly Rhythm, Groove On, Subversive, Bubble Soul the list goes on). For this Mn2S release it’s a pure happy, uplifting energy traditional U.S. style groove with a strong female vocal. In 2 mixes from George we get a Classic mix and a Groove mix, even though I liked both of them, it’s defiantly aimed at the pure soulful market I believe, totally the opposite to the current musical trends and tastes. John Julius Knight of Soulfuric fame steps up for a smooth toe tapping traditional groove led house mix. A penetrating bass is the main focus and drive for the track with the all important vocal drenched across and makes for a nice suitable later funky house floor mix with a tad bit more energy and guts. Staying close to George’s original vibe all the way he’s enhanced it further and far more developed. Olav Basoski injects a deeper darker moodier and by far more cutting approach with a chunky as hell bass in a funk throb vibe, it also hints with a techy angle as well and purely more effective. With a Vocal and a Dub you get the 2 angles to it from his mix, the vocal really lifts you up and packs a quality feeling, whereas the dub just strips it back and lets Olavs firing production skills stand up, my favourite mix by far off the package.

30 Hz - Daddio [Lot49]
Breaks label Lot49 consistently churn out underground beats time after time direct from the UK. This time around we are treated to 30Hz which features Yolanda’s vocals for a bit of a peak time party cut. As usual, a heavy hitting remix package tailored to suffice most occasions on the floor is included. First up is Klaus Heavyweight Hill with a cool dirty electro house remix. Utilizing the vocal and laying down some dirty bass and cool grinding fx and screeching noises to wind up the flow and inject a real jackin’ house feeling but totally overhauled into modern day dirty meets electro house you get a simply great dance floor mix that will fit straight into the house floors for maximum pleasure. Miles Dyson goes down a deeper darker electro route with real great warbling effects and speaker freaking sounds half way through that build right up for a simply injected dirty nasty body jarring mix and using nice vocal snippets for a real heads down groove machine. Trevor Loveys gives it a nice funk feeling with his approach and adds a depth to develop the song much more with pulsing and fine use of the vocal into a dark sliding bass grooving mix that slots into electro and house no problems and has a little more of a unique feeling to his sound compared to the other remixes and offers a different route I feel. 30Hz’s Original mix keeps a fresh mind and keeps a house structure but fashioned as per breaks and you get the full effect on the breakdown, it uses a lot of the Vocal, but if that’s not your thing, a handy Dub is included too so fear not, then you get the stripped down effect and hear the full force of 30Hz’s production.

Jacob Moss - Tektonik [Deviate]
As a reader of these fair pages, the name Jacob Moss shouldn’t be to unfamiliar to you, boasting as a resident for Party Proactive in the capital, laying down everything from tribal percussive beats to electro induced sounds to harder beats and a past history of quality events and clubbing brands we now are treated to his production debut on Deviate. Offering a taste of Jacob’s harder side his Original mix is a cracking blend of peak time sounds amalgamated together inducing a backbone of house with a distinctive pumping energetic edge and approach, with added elements that veer the track into progressive alongside some firing chunky drums throughout and jam loaded with percussion. Pagano, resident of Heaven (London & Ibiza) slams 2 remixes into the equation, opting firstly for a chunky electronic progressive version. Fully working the hell out of it and taking you on a journey into a further deeper style. A darker feeling gets created from this mix and a very nice driving bass really adds the next dimension. An edit version of Pagano’s remix is included that leaves out the trancey styled break, and in turn leaves you with a more spacey feeling to the mix, and a stripped back feeling ensures the driving and chunky beats are dealt with for maximum impact. The final remix is produced by Trade legend DJ Gonzalo under his Stereo Man disguise and takes us away from the previous heavier offerings, and down to some groovy funky house beats with a phat dirty late night vibe. In keeping with the other mixes it’s loaded and ready to go, but with a more groove led production style and sound its aimed right at the house floors and doesn’t take away the Originals vibe and elements and nice use of the breakdown later on and then in turn builds upon them for a chunky shaking workout.

Mike Koglin Vs Marc Vedo - Dirty Monster [5AM]
Whoa, massive big name trancers team up and collide for the next 5AM release, with legend Mike Koglin and International Koolwaters Dj Marc Vedo rolling out a slice of big room trance. Mike and Marc’s Original mix utilises several elements that are fused very well, a solid kicking start leads into a driving energetic bass and teasing vocal hits. Really nice sweeping synths start to work the vibe with the bass and give it a slightly dark edge before totally notching up the pace and taking you back down for the breakdown. Cool effects and sounds here and there add the extra lift and punch and it all kicks back in for a uplifting energetic peak time slice of trance. The man that can, and non stop these days with relentless productions and remixes Richard Durand throws out yet another tech trance hybrid smashing remix. With his usual sublime smooth and crisp production skills you are treated to a really nice refreshing uplifting mood. Punchy drums ensure that Durand’s kicking dance floor bass really lifts you up and throws down the energy for a massive release when it drops. An excellent remix and with a much more techy building vibe to contrast the Original mix from Mike and Marc it’s a great release.

Bodyrox & Luciana - What Planet You On [Phonetic]
After there chart busting “Yeah Yeah” are the Bodyrox duo one hit wonders I hear you say? With a multitude of past experience and another smash under the alias of Another Chance “Every time I See her” there setting themselves up for a great future. Enlisting the vocal talents again of Luciana, we are treated to what is an absolutely massive remix package, and reads as a who’s who of current dance for sure. Consisting of Martijn ten Velden, Air Bureau, The Slacksons, Prok & Fitch, Bryan Dalton, Junkyard Dog, The Force, Daley Padley & Jon Johnson. The Original has already received an exclusive Pete Tong Radio 1 play, and picks up where “Yeah Yeah” left off, catchy electro house with Luciana in full effect for a peak time floor filling moment that’s pure crossover. The remixes however start to develop on a new level Luciana’s vocals and the song, with Martijn ten Velden starting things off. Opting for a deeper veined mix from the start, he’s really done a great job in turning a crossover styled Original mix, into a much darker house feeling. A really great deep breakdown with the vocal gives the track a whole different feeling, no obvious sounding electro basslines and effects makes it much more kicking and later night sounding, you wont be hearing this mix down the cheesy discothèque for sure any day. His mix has a great release that complements the lyrics very well and seems very fitting. Daley Padley & Jon Johnson strip things back and create a chunky slewing version that’s destined for the big room no doubt. Teasing the vocal in and out and looping with a crescendo feeling on the breakdown, maximum effect and results in a simply addictive catchy dance floor mix. The Slacksons give a heavy phat looping fest with a cool driving bassline developing for a tougher result. A lot of effects and extra sounds tear the vocal up for sure and adds a different dimension. Junkyard Dog slide a killer tough hitting arrangement for a real response, lots of steady deep touches work really well into the guitar breakdown before throwing us back into there kicking sound, its balanced out well with the guitar use and creates an overall chunky feeling. Bryan Dalton provides a deep techy bubbling house fashioned workout with great use of the bassline for a hypnotic sound that shimmers with extra touches of chunky drums. Air Bureau continue after great mixes for Turbo funk and Cassius, with more of the same, catchy lick driven dance with happy, funky, fresh feeling and again chunky sound. Prok & Fitch deliver an electro house makeover and go for using an energetic approach that collides into a deep synth breakdown, and you get the full effect on there Dub mix of this. With further final mixes en-route from no other then Deadmau5 & Paul Woolford, this is one hot package to get your hands on! .

StereoK - I Don't Want To Be An Astronaut [Looq Records]
Born and raised in Greece, Haris K. (aka StereoK) has previously formed his first band playing the drums, then spent eight years playing in the hardcore-crossover group One Block Society in Athens. Now the label manager of the Russia based Carica Records he produces electronic sounds that blend tech, progressive and electro house. A massive bass with enhanced cascading melodic sounds all combine with a funky guitar and floaty vocals sit all together in a melting point for the mind. The Jeff Devas remix is probably the obvious floor contender with a much more high paced energetic flow and direction. A crisp and clear progressive sound with lots of subtle sounds works well in creating an easily interpreted dance floor mix. The more energetic approach he’s taken really works to bring out the best elements of the original, but developed for later dance floors.Additional mixes come in from Royal Sapien who adds another vocal to the top (dubs included if you’re not into this re interpretation) and we are treated to a mid set time of night version that has more energy then the original mix but less then Jeff Devas’s mix. With a more beaty approach and sound it’s a good solid all rounder. Tronso whacks a full on bass laden effective mix to the pot for a chuggy chunky tasty electronic reworking.

Marcella - Who's Your Nanny [Terminal 4]
Awesome! A new Marcella track, highly anticipated after the masive Renaissance release 'Stabbing Sally' which got a severe hammering from all involved, and if that was anything to go by, were in for more dirty treats! The Slightly Agitated mix has a really cool dirty driving electro sound with a cool vocal sample and lots of effects and filth to it. Totally pumped up this one will reach electro, house and maybe even tech trance dj’s alike, it's a monster with a really slamming use of the lead synth that just picks up and builds the momentum for a maximum floor release, totally love this mix, its a winner. Aptly titled Ravin Mad Mix is a tough electro tech stomper. It features some great percussion and opts for a twisted use of the vocals. Yet again it has that essential relentless feeling to it with the energy levels soaring high. Finishing off is the Everything Under Control mix which in turn, focuses more on dirty squeaky noise led percussion before unleashing its full effect of a deep dark electro warbler. This is an essential release with 3 great mixes for different floors and styles, that’s sure going to raise the Marcella name and vibe even further.

The Migrants - I Thought That [Apollo]
Already with mass support from Radio 1’s Pete Tong, Jo Whiley, Dave Pearce, Annie Mac, Trophy Twins and more, one of the hottest electro house dance anthems now gets a solid makeover. Expect to here this one in the fields of festivals to the Ibiza shores with its jerky beats, quivering vocals, throbbing bass, and fuzzy effects all twisted up in a funky electro style. The Migrants is Paul de Homem-Christo, also known as Play Paul and The Buffalo Bunch he's an illusive enigmatic artist. His main focus Play Paul is know for ace remixes of Kylie, Basement Jaxx, “La La La Land” and Sharam Jey amongst others. With a key vocal line of “I thought that we could have been loving more than lovers I thought that we could be sharing more than brothers” you have one of the hottest electro tracks to hit us now. New remixes come in from Boris Dlugosch, TV Rock, Raul Rincon and the ever excellent Kurd Maverick. Whilst Boris Dlugosch’s version opts for a electro quirky style, TV Rock overhaul the track into deep peak time electro house territory. With a really strong kicking sound and teasing looping vocal that just flows and builds the momentum in the mix before finally breaking down and unleashing the full vocal for effect. Raul Rincon provides yet another fresh and funky uplifting cut with a really groovy dancey fat bass. The Kurd Maverick mix is to follow, and after his recent outings and work we can only live to expect another peak time injected houser.

Soul Corporation - Let’s Go Together [Brass]
Dutch production duo Mark Simmons and Dennis Christopher team up for a summer infused feel good vocal club record. Covering the classic Jazzy M “Jazzin The Way You Know” Perfecto track which was huge in the day and bringing it bang up to date with a more modern house slant. Championed by tastemakers like Graeme Park , Hoxton Whores, The Sharp Boys and Allister Whitehead we are treated to a well crafted funky house kick and uplifting piano riff. With a staggering 6 mixes to choose from you have everything from full vocal to swooshy dubs to big breakdowns and an electro infused groove to choose from. They’ve covered most bases with a mix to suit different times of the night, but which ever mix you choose, you’ve got dance floor pressure in your hands.

Sidney Samson - Shake and Rock This [Muck]
Bouncy tough electro injected bassline stormer “Shake and Rock This” has been gaining momentum for a few months with it’s twisted rhythm sound and vocoder vocals. A firing dirty house missile if you’ve ever heard one, with awesome remixes on top from Filthy Rich and Tony Cha Cha. The Original mix has a killer injection of dirty gritty tough house beats with sirens and an acidic bassline and the great catchy as hell vocal that really just kicks it up in a club every time. Filthy Rich yet again provides a filthy feast of dirty electro lead beats with a rough feel to it. Very fat use of the bass, and a looping vocal and vibe that works it up even more into a frenzy then the Original mix, its proper going off peak time material here. Delinquent Bassline Stomper remix utilises a key different bass to the other mixes and has a more bouncy feeling with a style and sound more reminiscent of the Speed garage era. Finishing it off is Sidney Samson and Tony Cha Cha who go for a tough stripped back filtering squelching electro mix with a choppy edge and much darker feeling. Simply a massive track.

The Jinks - Up To You [Jinks Inc]
Dan Savidge and Chris Gau burst onto the house scene with “Love Like This” back in 2005 and have featured on labels such as Mn2S and Sole Music with quality “real” house cuts. This debut release on their new label Jinks Inc features the vocal talents of Philly’s Lady Alma who has collaborated with 4 Hero and King Britt previously. The Main mix has a great sound with the full vocal lick from Lady Alma, lots of funky slick beats and synth works the vibe and some nice touches here and there really work to maintain an uplifting mood. With a much more full vocal house feeling and traditional elements brought up to date it’s another winner from the Jinks. The J-Fonk Dub goes for a much deeper darker feeling from the outset, with a later night sound. Tougher drums kick the track up for a more synthy style led version that’s got a really slamming factor for the dance floor. Very catchy and building with minimal vocal use you have a cool slammer to use and it’s my favourite mix by far.

Meat Katie & D Ramirez - Stop The Revolution [Lot49]
Underground stormer alert! Hard hitting track from two of underground dance music’s best and we receive a demanding vocal from Odissi, that sure does make you stand up for attention. Dubfire (one half of Deep Dish, and recent “Roadkill” fame) makes a big wave with his already en mass supported mix from the major players. Here were treated to a slow burning deep broody vibed mix. Utilising a minimal feeling to start with the steady building feeling grows and reaches a point in turn with the vocal essence of the track. An absolute monster dark mix on offer here that’s just going to tear up some major floors (if it hasn’t already). America’s Bassbin Twins churn out what feels like a very Switch inspired mix, and if you’re down with the Switch sound, you’ll love this mix. Dirty bass infused groovy filthy speaker freaking all the way I love what they’ve created and makes the vocal seem even more fitting, lots of pitched up sounds and effects to warp the mind really works, expect this one to get many cross plays, awesome bouncy electronic filthyness. Jamie McHugh yet again shows off his skills as a leader of the new school producers with a very deep dark dubby mix. Squelching bassline that builds throughout the track for a dark room dirty feeling makes it a relentless mix for those that need maximum impact. 30Hz goes for a full throttle no nonsense breaks mix, filthy as you like gritty synth lead production, vocal stabs filtered up. Real body moving bass makes it an essential dance floor groove with a cool breakdown and effects that kick in with a great sound. Finishing it off is 2 digital only mixes from Kid Blue who opts for a pumping rolling bass laden breaks banger, and Bobby Lorenz (of “Twitch” fame) that goes down a tech house route with a generous electronic dance floor bounce throughout.

Mr. Fogg - Seciov (The Remixes) [Spin Out Records]
Originally an electro-pop-indie hybrid track that was previously released on Worst Case Scenario Records, it grabbed the Spin Out crew’s attention, and demanded some remixes. Vandal gets down for the first instalment and churns out a big breaks re-rub. Fast paced energy injected, no messing. This is pure “having it” on the floor material yet again from Vandal. Making use of the rocky guitar edge in his mix you have a quite relentless floor mix with a cool breakdown. Loulou Players provide a techno inspired take on the track, but compile a mix that will suit tastes from house to electro right back to minimal and techno. With a really haunting deep dark feeling from the start you have pure night music at its best here. Not over done, easily accessible between many styles and genres it’s a great mix. Spin Out’s home boy Si McEvoy returns for another take, this time, more experimental in his offering. Supplying what can only be described as a glitchy electronic fest of electro tech bleeps and chopped up vocals complete with its big bass and strong effective breakdown then all the effects and sounds and noises brought together, one for the headstrong. As an extra bonus they have included some Dubs, for digital only release from Loulou Players and Si McEvoy for those that may not be into the vocal or want dj tools for there sets.

Luis Paris V’s Adamski - One of the People [Phonetic]
A hot new rework of one of Adamski’s past secrets ‘One of the People’, which has already received the seal of approval from the man himself. Adamski also got involved in the process, and includes his new 2007 version as well for good measure. Lead vocals are supplied by Gerideau who will be familiar to a lot of tune spotters from a string of renowned records previously over the years, and when you add it all up, it’s another exciting fresh track from Phonetic towers again. Turbofunk of Phonetics massive smash “Gotta Move” launches the remixes with another awe inspiring mix. Eclectic French twisted bass line and general fashion twists it up for a funk infused groove machine mix. Pure real groovy bass guitar makes it have “that” cool vibe which so many love, and will appeal to a cross section of many fans, not just house lovers. Like the “Gotta Move” track, the choppy edged looping vibe later on really keeps it fresh and exciting for a floor buster. Wesley S makes a strong peak time heavy house re working, with a real moving bass line. Nice vocal use initially keeps the pressure and pace up there with some effects and sounds that keep it quite in keeping with the current styles and trends, but a little switch changes the mood and the full vocal hits you and in turn, makes it more vocal house style driven instead of going to much the other way into just another electro house record territory. Finishing it off with the bass line suitably keeps it up there and doesn’t drop the vibe back down. First Life deliver three different interpretations, starting off with a “One Tribe” mix that oozes a somewhat happy vibe from start to finish; nice funky beats laden ensure a pure style mix. The “1 Nation” mix opts for a different start and a slightly later dance floor version mixing it up a little more and throws a cool build. The “Filthy” mix takes a darker orientation and slowly carves up a thrashing feeling into the vocal and has a real electric pulsing frequency layered mix, all done very tastefully and not over killed.

Eyerer & Chopstick Ft. Zdar - Make My Day (Haunting) [iO Music]
A stunning fresh track from one of the best new hot production teams of late on the iO Music Label that recently seriously turned the oven up to full heat with there Tricky Disco remixes for 2007. German duo Eyerer & Chopstick add to there original instrumental the vocal talents of Cassius front man Phillipe Zdar for a piece of cool as electronic house music. There Original mix is funky bass fuelled feel good vibed house and has already caught the attention of Tong and Tiga. ISI-E start off the remixes, with a tough meets jackin' house mix. Packed with energy and real rocky house style vibe as well, this one has a definite cool edged feeling throughout that retains the original's feeling but turns up the pressure for a further floor busting approach. Cascading use of the electronic elements really works and you get a must have floor mix. Mashtronic supply a mighty remix (and Dub too for those other moments) and turn it up seriously with a hefty power churning paced bass laden chunky alternative version. Using the vocal to full effect for a sheer power driven mix, it sits there and just pushes away with a cool breakdown that seriously makes you want to dance with the energy created. If you've liked any of the recent work, you'll be reaching for this one, a must have.

Oliver Klein - Re-Kraft [iO Music]
Way back in 2001, Rheinkraft achieved a lot which lead to Oliver Klein remixing everyone from Tiesto to Harry Choo Choo Romero. Back for 2007, he's fittingly re-visited the Original and provided a new interpretation "Re-Kraft" using the Original parts. Not to disappoint the "heads" we are also treated to 2 new further remixes from Gui Boratto and Pig & Dan. Klein shows his minimal progressive style and sound off yet again with a cool spooky sounding percussive feeling and moody track. Gui Boratto goes to town, and gets down for some seriously dirty business, late night brilliance and uses some tom-toms for a progressive infused minimal techy driven approach. Constantly building, it really peaks the flow up and delivers, the momentum just keeps there for a floor and use of the spooky sounds and synths in a minimal, but progressive approach gets a pure wicked result when it all drops. With mixes like this, expect a lot more soon! Pig & Dan decide to opt for a more crazy styled mix, and supply a tech electro sound. High intense frequency sounds and fx screech there way through your head, really layered and seem to constantly crescendo your mind for a pulsing effect. The more energetic mix on the release for sure, if you need a version jammed with power and a deep haunting feeling, this is the one, its quite heavy in the mix intense voltage charged sound (and the head afterwards).

Don Cartel - I Control Your Body [Now Music]
A fresh electro tinged track straight out of Holland from Now Music who supply a club friendly floor filler sound. A catchy bassline and infectious synth riff with menacing vocals works well all together for a bit of a club stomper for sure. Supplied with both Radio and Club Versions alongside two fresh peak time remixes from Don Cartel vs Patrick Thomass and Eugenio Ricci. Don Cartel vs Patrick Thomass add a hooky bassline alongside some stabby synth work and the result is an almost ravey styled and feeling mix. Again, picking up on the darkness of the vocals provided they've turned out a peak time banging slew styled mix for some deep action. Eugenio Ricci adds some real depth to the track, carving out a dirty deep driving almost sinister like bassline. From start to finish you have a full on dance floor friendly shaking groove, with real crossover appeal. The male vocal is very fitting and has a shear darkness side to it I feel that the bassline perfectly compliments

DJ Jose - Hesitate 2007 [ZZAP]
I fully remember battering this one when it first came out and then again via the Commander Tom release as well and no surprises due to the catchy vocals and infectious synth lead riff. Back for 2007 with 3 remixes in a dirty electro styled fashion from Remaniax, Muzikjunki and Synchro & JVA. Remaniax keeps the vibe going strongly of the awesome Original mix and injects a steady twisted groove led mix, adding a straight up no nonsense chunky feeling as well. Not overdoing it style wise and going to one way, the mix itself is pretty balanced and can easily be played by both house Dj's peak time and on the warm up for harder jocks. Due to the fact it retains the good feeling of the Original mix it's my preferred mix. Muzikjunki who has recently remixed Cr2's Dj Jeroenski throws down a dirty progressive styled mix. A slightly slower paced feeling to it strips down the track for a purer vibe. Still injecting some dirty sounds and twisted synth stabs and lots of filtered effects he's done a good solid job again. Finally finishing it off is the Synchro & JVA mix which has a cool oldskool inspired synth riff which keeps a new dimension to the mix. A great bassline for the dance floor keeps the flow going strong and makes the track have a good energetic peaky feeling throughout. The added riff really does work and you get an uplifting catchy feeling, which perfectly compliments the Original track I feel.

LOT 49 Presents : Meat Katie ‘Sampler 2’ [Lot49]
The previous Sampler featured two crackers in the form of Dylan Rhymes ‘Muzika’ (Rogue Element Remix) and Jamie McHugh ‘Yeah’ so I’m expecting big things from number 2! It’s nearly a month since Lot49 launched its compilation series and received an amazing response. This time around we get a further 3 tracks for floor busting pressure, in the form of Elite Force ‘I Don’t Think So’, Jono Fernandez & Nick Thayer ‘Stay On The Line’ and 30Hz ‘Mutton’. Elite Force kicks it off with ‘I Don’t Think So’. An awesome piece of driving tech funk madness that builds with hard hitting noises and as usual from the main man, a killer rolling bassline and gritty drive. Recently all of his productions and remixes have been played by both house and breaks Dj’s in the mix, and he’s done it again, the track easily crosses over the 2 territories. The label thinks its pure “4am”, and well, I’d have to agree, it punishes the speaker with its heavy tough energy and sound. Disco samples are added into the mix to spice it up further, and handled in a way that makes a real groove. Australian breaks scene-sters Jono Fernandez & Nick Thayer present ‘Stay On The Line’. A cool solid break groove with nice electronic bass used throughout. A dark vocal makes the arrangement seem really fitting with its winding up and down flow. Bristol based 30Hz supplies the final instalment ‘Mutton’. After his previous outing on Lot49 (Space Age EP) we are treated to a relentless, grinding tech-house infused meets breaks style track. Lots of high frequency distortion sounds and noises pad the track alongside some glitchy sounds as well, they all build and a breakdown that wouldn’t be out of place on a dark sweaty floor then picks you back up and slams you till the end. These 3 tracks are killer hot dance floor weapons from Meat Katie’s compilation. If you pick up the full album, Lot 49 Presents : Meat Katie, A DJ Compilation, you’ll have your hands on some of the hottest material from Lot 49 yet again.

DJ Jeroenski - Back Once Again [Cr2]
Bit of a massive crossover record in the making here on a track that uses the infamous 'Renegade Master' vocal which was chart smashing all the way back in 1998. Dutch club scene maestro DJ Jeroenski has had releases previously with the likes of R&G, Real Basic, Choice, Hardsoul Pressings & of course Cr2 Digital. With the track gaining momentum rapidly he's moved on to Cr2 for a full release. Overhauling the track and giving it an up to date electro House makeover, the vocal hits you, and even today, instantly recognisable and catchy as hell. Soul Central of Defected fame, supply another bumping track, chopping the vocal into a groove led houser with pure classy slick beats, expect this one to be a funky fave and should see a lot of support. Vandalism completely turn the game up, and finish off with creating a peak time electronic work out with cool tough led house beats, great energy, electro inspired and sounding bass and sounds completed with big drops for the vocal to do the damage even more so after the build-up for and immense effect. Recent remixes of The Freaks 'The Creeps' and many more have made them dj and clubber favourites in a short space of time, and no surprises to see why. Cr2 digitals Muzik Junki opts to take it further and develop it up a gear and takes it into a hands in the air mix. With lot's of dj support already, and the Original mix being cained by Eddie Halliwell on his Radio 1 show, it's looking like an awesome release for Cr2.

Matteo ESSE & Sant feat. Corrina Joseph - Funk [Cosmonote Blue/Pacha Red]
First promoted to a select group of DJs in 2006, the reaction was massive to the "Funk" and support came in from Erick Morillo, David Guetta, Sander Kleinenberg and many more. We get treated to brand new Deelay and Sarah Main mixes for this summer season, alongside the Original and Robbie Rivera mixes. Kicking matters off is Sarah Main, whose mix takes a somewhat throbby bass driven peak time houser with a really funky chunky edged sound throughout. Very accessible dancey and groove led into the vocal breakdown with a more deeper vibed feeling, drop this after midnight and you should have a great dance floor response. Deelay opts for a slower paced vocal house mix with a little line that runs through the mix that's reminiscent of an old biggie. More deeper building progressive orientated mix, expect this mix for the more later night dj's and floors. Also providing a Dub, the intensity of the sounds is brought out more and feels like the vocal helps develop the momentum and build back in, much more effective. Robbie Rivera's mix still stands up with his usual slick tough peak time sound. A cool piano breakdown and Miami beats swirl around your head. There's also some extra unreleased mixes from The BeatThiefs and Joyfull Family kicking around. The BeatThiefs go for a deep driver that’s got lots of floor swing and nice bass; they use lots of the vocal and some percussion which makes it a funky slammer that picks up the pace. Joyfull Family finishes things off with a more laid back beaty driven funk house mix; again using lots of the vocal it has a more broken vibe to it which brings it to a different audience.

Chardy & t Knight - That Hurts! [Comfortably Numbed Digital]
As a HarderFaster reader you would have seen the name Comfortably Numbed grace these pages previously due to the beat slewing South African duo the Greg & Baltazar. After various parties and events the duo team up with Jon Fynn to launch there next phase of global beats armed and ready for attention, this time around, presenting Comfortably Numbed Digital. Using the phrase "Blissed 'n Twisted House & Techno" you know your going to be treated to some cracking and downright cranking beats and electronic sounds. For there first release we see a debut from Australian duo Chardy & Tani "t" Knight. Having met over 4 years ago, their complementing djing styles quickly helped to bring the duo together and inevitably to the studio. Starting the EP off with the titled "That Hurts!" you get a deep steady broody building groover. Dark carving tones rest underneath for a techy driven bass laiden nu breed house meets minimal techno inspired vibed workout that throbs the speaker. Jon Fynn provides the first remix and opts for a more energetic workout. Still in keeping to the Original but a more solid groove led beat and sounds and switching bass makes it a little more interesting in the mix. Extra sounds help to build on the Originals mood and it takes you further down the path, for a later night sound. Janders supplies an alternative mix and has a tougher kicking drum mix journey, yet again till keeps the mood there, but builds again developing it a little further with more intensity to it. A lovely deep dark breakdown with a more varying beat before finishing things off suitably keeps it twisted. The final track "In The Jungle" sees Chardy & t Knight go for a low down pumping electronic twisted edged sound. Pure peak time driving and intense sounds all sit together and steady build to drop for a floor fresh moment until working the vibe back out till the end for that important release.

Simpleton - Just Let Go [Spin Out]
The first single under a new guise for producer Vandal, who this time decides to opt for a change from his breaks and ventures into the four to the floor sound aided by the vocals of an electro-punk band singer Jessica Grande. Notably (as Vandal), he’s already graced the Spin Out label with heavy re-workings of ‘Spilt Milk’ by Metric and Bob Standard and ‘Come As One’ by Swain & Paris. So getting down on his new electro-house alias ‘Simpleton’ we see a tough production designed for a pure floor moment. Quirky sounding synth driven bass and cool drums that all work well together and can easily fit and fall into many genres with a building edge. Bit crushed sounds and added effects here and there with the vocal spoken all meet for a melting point that rises up and unleashes for an energetic heavy house workout. Using varied influences throughout from minimal, electro and techno and of course not forgetting Vandal’s breaks influences and productions you have a quality piece of heavy tough house meets electro house. The remix comes from duo Baobinga & ID who have been making a name for themselves on top breaks labels such as Fat! and Mantra. I dj’d on the same line up as them recently at Plymouth's underground night Magik Bullet and they played a blinder. They provide a heavy energetic jam-packed re work. Heavy, tribal, percussive breaks is the order of the day from start to finish. A big dance floor mix with its huge building bass line and relentless beats, the track continues and builds all the way and uses the cool synth to bring out a floor busting mix. Another cracker from Spin Out.

Christian Alvarez feat Tyrah Morena - Siempre Pra Sol [Mutated Music]
Mutated Music’s next funky shaking installment is one destined for those summer nights. Summer’s (almost) here and the funky sun drenched tracks appear for the sun season. Yet again we get a super Latin tinged production from Christian Alvarez, with added live instrumentation and sweet vocals from Tyrah Morena. Christian supplies 2 mixes, the Flamenco mix and his Afro shuffle dub. The Flamenco mix has a real cool summer sound, with the instruments brought out to full glory for a happy feel good mover. Slick production and fine use of live sounds makes a winner. The Afro shuffle dub has a more afro tinged drum beat to carve out a slightly different edge to the track, but keeps the live instrumentation. The mighty Kid Massive provides another monster floor reworking in the shape of his “afrolektrik” style and sound. A far more dirty edged mix with that slamming floor pressure added, straight up peak time injected bass and added power really works and yet again he’s managed to “pump” up the track for a pure floor mix. This is my favorite mix. American scene shakers Davidson Ospina & Oscar P opt for a slick smooth bumpy classic Garage induced House remix. Really strictly soulful from start to finish and pure bar grooves, and relaxing on the beach vibe. They’ve kept the sun drenched Latin edge and vibe to there mix and got a cool bumpy shaky beat. Finally the Stereo Mutants finish it off and supply 2 contrasting mixes. Their club mix has a later night house sound and deep bubbling bass with percussion licks and nice use of the instruments to still retain that live feeling and summer musical good feeling. The Piano dub suggests a different main focus of the mix, with a more driving flow and the piano to lift the track for a different dimension.

Roy Gates - Take U Down [White Villa / Dancevilla]
With his mix of Vincent De Moor - Flowtation blistering the club floors, Roy Gates takes a change from his tech trance style, to provide a more softer electro vibe. The Club Mix has a throbby chunky edge to start with, before the vocal hits us, and it becomes more of a commercial radio styled track and looses its credibility. I really liked the arrangement but the vocal combined all over the top makes me want to screw my face up and stop playing it. Slightly disappointed in what would otherwise would have been a very solid effort for a floor and got several plays. For the trance heads, we get treated to a tougher and darker reworking from Maarten De Jong. Turning the track into a peak time tech monster roller with some cool twisted synth sounds and reworked vocals, he's done a great job in turning this track back the other way. I still am unconvinced about the vocal and this remix of the track would be a full fired monster without them. Energy injected tech trance with loaded percussion from start to finish, just kill the vocals I think!

DJ Jean - Sexy Lady/ Eivissa [White Villa / Dancevilla]
DJ Jean, who hit these shores with his smash ‘The Launch’ in 1999 returns with some electro inspired tracks and vibes. Sexy Lady starts extremely promising with driving electro house beats and sound, then we get a girly vocal that im not honestly a fan of, it just doesnt seem to fit or work very slickly or well. It's a let down to what would be a good solid club cut with really nice production and great sounds. In contrast to Sexy Lady, we get a more dirty club effort with Eivissa, no girly vocals, serious beats, cool bass and nice stripped down element which lets the music do the talking. After a nice buildup with some cool little changes here and there the track then opts for a change in style, for a more techy minimal electro styled vibe before hitting the bass back in for full effect. A solid effort from start to finish with some cool little highlights makes it a worthwile purchase.

Yousef & Steve Mac Present the Drum Bums - The Idea [Phonetic]
The sun’s (starting) to appear, the funky numbers are rolling out, it must be Ibiza time yet again for another year. As always Phonetic play a massive driving force in road testing there tracks with the Ibiza residents each year, and here we get two of the cooler end producers teaming up for a hypnotic vocal drenched groove. Originally given out to just 5 key Dj’s and then gained support rapidly from Deep Dish, David Morales, Hector Romero, Satoshie Tommie, Roger Sanchez and more. Now provided with a whole set of mixes from Tom De Neef, Dean Coleman and Onionz & Loz, its ready to go further into even more boxes. All Phonetic tracks always have a good song behind them, and all the mixes utilize this to full effect. The Original is a long haul deep building house track with a bubbling mood and edge brought out by the vocal for a smooth workout. The Drum Bums themselves provide an alternative mix to their Original, in the shape of a 303 workout, which has a more acidic sound and tinge underlying in the arrangement. Onionz gets on the case for more techy tribal-esque influenced warbling beats and keeps closer to the Original mix for sure with a deep driving bullet for the more underground tastes out there. Tom De Neef gives the track a killer good feeling vocal house makeover, taking the deepness away and providing a funkier approach to the track packed with energy and smooth flowing sound. Easily fitting into the many times of night, the good vibe Tom’s brought out really gives it a nice depth and far more potential for the funky Dj’s and expect this one to surface on the Space Terrace a few times over the next months. Dean Coleman of Yoshitoshi fame turns out another peak time hypnotic take on proceedings. His modern progressive influenced house sound and style with a more electronica element to it has won him fans across the board and this heavy late night rework really takes the track into later territory, with its added driving bass you’ve got a nice different slant for the floor mix, that maintains a solid flow throughout. A well balanced remix package which caters from purists to funky tastes, or deeper vibed, it’s all here.

Col Hamilton - Catch It, Kill It, Scran It [Cosmonote Blue]
Irish Dj, Producer, promoter and resident for Lush Col Hamilton has established himself as one of Ireland’s most in demand DJs. Previous success has already been had alongside Aaron McClelland and their Top 40 chart hit “C-Sixty Four” which was released on Manifesto Records / Universal Music back in 2005. Originally a limited digital release from Mena Music last year saw “Catch It, Kill It, Scran It“ get a whole load of plays and support from Benny Benassi, Chris Cargo, Dave Seaman, Felix Da Housecat, Fergie, King Unique, Pete Tong the list goes on. Cosmonote Blue has decided to go for a full release with brand new mixes courtesy of AMC aka Aaron McClelland, Dave Robertson, Matteo ESSE & Sant and Tim Hudson. AMC aka Aaron McClelland also Fonzerelli and Yer Man gives it a total rework, adding his usual slick vocoding style and sound with a warm hook for the funkier masses. Dave Robertson (Cr2 Records) adds a twist to the track with lots more quirky sounding effects and acid styled bassline to it. Pushing the track further into electronica with a deeper groovier flowing element, expect lots of pickup on this mix and more across the board plays. Matteo ESSE & Sant opt for a fuller throttle take, adding more energy and pumping the track up to the max for some electro inspired house and use of spoken vocals as well all add to the depth of the mix. A real building floor mix that has all the elements of the “now” sound but doesn’t go too overboard with any of them, and works really well resulting in the best mix on the package. Tim Hudson finishes off with a more subtle and spaced out hypnotic mix, his previous Dj support includes Carl Cox, James Zabiela, Joe T Vannelli, Nic Fanciulli and yet again creates a far more nu breed styled mix.

LOT 49 Presents Meat Katie - ‘Sampler 1’ [Lot 49]
Two absolute monster tunes feature on this compilation sampler, namely Dylan Rhymes ‘Muzika’ (Rogue Element Remix) and Jamie McHugh ‘Yeah’. The compilation is an exploration of Meat Katie’s Djing style and sound. It’s relentless and vibeing from start to finish. First up is a classic tune ‘Muzika’ re-worked by Rogue Element who’s literally on fire at the moment, and in turn provides a pure filth fest. Raw, gritty driving jam packed with energy and grows and builds the momentum to an epic peak for an extremely phatt sound. Tough heavy beats and dark breakdowns and banging kicks make it a heavy workout, hard to classify, but expect breaks, house and electro heads with any sense to pick up on this one, a sure fire peak time acidic pressured bomb loaded with killer sounds and effects to drop in any set. Finishing the sampler off is Jamie McHugh’s debut on LOT 49 ‘Yeah’. Jamie’s been very busy with forthcoming tracks on Brique Rouge, Twisted Frequency and CR2, his “AWOL” track blistered its way through to house, electro and breaks Dj’s boxes for severe workouts! This time round we get an amalgamation of his deeper much more almost techno sounding and inspired vibes, collided with a break beat meets house’d up feeling that builds into a pumping track. Having an electro edge throughout, its new breed styled material that will sure get some underground floors moving and shaking. If you pick up the full album, Lot 49 Presents : Meat Katie, A DJ Compilation, you’ll have your hands on some of the hottest material from Lot 49!

Tricky Disco - Tricky Disco [iO Music]
An original acid house track from the 90's that reached the crossover point and hit the national charts after 17 years gets an update from Lutzenkirchen and The Martin Brothers. Originally released on the Warp label by artists Lee Newman and Michael Wells, the track gained acclaim alongside taking the track outside of the early rave scene to a wider audience. One of Germany's current hottest bright prospects, Lutzenkirchen, whom of recent times has had a steady amount of work for the excellent Great Stuff label, and remixes on Lot49 and a whole host more provides the first remix. As usual, you get a heavy deep steadily building workout, with a cool electro bassline. Cutting up the vocal and grinding the bass along really picks up the energy half way through into some warbly trippy electro sounds and effects. Only using snippets of the vocal really makes it have a cutting approach throughout and swirling sounds finish it off nicely for another essential electro tech minimal techno genre inspired Lutzenkirchen work. Finishing off the package is Dirty Bird's tech house and minimal kings The Martin Brothers. Any fans of the Dirty Bird and Claude VonStroke sound will love this, yet more warbling tripped out banging intense beats and sounds and effects with a percussive edge. Yet again opting for a cutting flow it really works, a wavering bassline and deep breakdown the leaps back in with the intensity carried on and the vocal snippets included and the momentum of the track reaches it peak. Cool stuff!

Kharma 45 - Where’s Your Spirit Man [Warner Bros.]
New Northern Irish quintet recently signed to Warner Bros. release their debut single with remixes from My Digital Enemy, Tronik Youth and Karl G. Produced by Youth, and with a vast range of influences from the Chemical Brothers, Muse and Oasis the band has got several creative sparks for their sound. My Digital Enemy provide an electro house makeover and true to their usual style and sound, have produced a remix that easily fits into a normal house set alongside a more electro sounding set with a mid ranged balanced mix. Using a lot of the vocal and elements of the original track, it’s a nice upbeat offering with a cool added bassline that lifts it into more club territory. Whilst it doesn’t re invent the wheel, it’s got a somewhat catchy housey feeling throughout that makes it appealing to a whole host of Dj’s. Tronik Youth opts for a reverse with totally overhauling the track and making into somewhat of a deeper nastier approach. A bubbling bass and acidic styled edge give it more edge for the club floors. The elements of the original track seem to be more fitting and used better and more in keeping with a club vibe to me. The acidic part really lifts it and carried the track through to the end. Karl G finishes things off with a heavier peak time tougher edged sound. This mix will from the outset gain far more rotation and attention, its much more club orientated in comparison to the other mixes and has a slightly heavier sound which is needed when the original tracks elements are used as it acts as a contrasting sound, a more up to date bass makes it all seem much more workable and could be played later in the night.

James Harcourt - Galia Melon [SpinOut Records]
Just when you wonder what’s coming next, they throw out something to rival any of there previous releases and yet again supply some extremely tasty diverse floor reworkings. Twisted Frequency's James Harcourt supplies Spinout’s next installment, of to which were treated with more floor busting 4/4. The Original mix is a slow builder at first with a cool synth styled riff that works up into a more pacey flow before going into the breakdown and then drops back in. Australian hot producers/remixers Aston Shuffle step up to fully thrash and batter the track out and the system speaker too, with a hot remix. Still relatively new to the scene but recent remixes for Chris Lake and Malente have already set them apart to be the next cream of the crop. A full throttle heads down having it vibe with a bouncy injected beat and twisted dark electronic bleeps and noises for a full workout, it batters the speaker and pounds the energy. A warbling big bass and extremely phatt kicking sound make this a must for any set. Lee Coombs finishes off the remixes with a genre mixing acid squelching filter filthy fest. Verging away from his usual Breaks style we get a more minimal approach with a building journey. It growls along until the breakdown which has an intense build and kick with pure electronica written all over it thrashing it out until the end.

Subsky - Halo Effect / Placebo Effect [Loöq Records]
Loöq Records pave the way forward with more future electronic dance music from Istanbul’s Goktug Citci (Aka Subsky). Previous releases have appeared on Paul Van Dyk’s “Politics of Dancing”, Nick Warren’s “GU24 Reykjavik” and his bootleg of Miss Kittin’s “Professional Distortion” was a huge hit with Sasha. Outside of production, he’s Dj’d in Turkey and around the globe for the past 10 years, and also crowned the No. 1 dj in Turkey in 2005. Halo Effect is a driving flowing track with a strong progressive feeling and thinking structure, but touches of a funky led groove keep it bubbling away throughout. Nice hints of futuristic styled sounds and added energy add to lift the track up to a crowd with a strong electronic inspired breakdown in a deep synth led moment. Placebo Effect opts for a dreamier sound, with a late night big room feeling to it, slowly building up with deep and haunting inspiring keys and breakdown. Continuing to the end with an acid inspired line for added effect and just to turn the track up and back inside itself again and then finally releases a touch more acidic energy before working back down.

Marc Vedo - Timeline [Five Am Vibe]
Half Portuguese, half English Head of the Koolwaters brand, Slinky Resident and heavily travelled international Dj Marc Vedo does what he knows best, quality trance through and through, with an added blistering reworking from Mac & Mac. Marc's Original Mix is quality uplifting trance from start to finish, starting with a synth sound which fires into a cascading building vibe, and working to a flowing euphoric trancer. Marc's created a classy piece of peak time trance that will certainly raise a few hands in the air with its pure vibe. This track really sums up a true Vedo dj set and sound; fresh driving and uplifting trance. Mac & Mac setup the remix, and go for a much deeper, darker vibe. Like the Original, they build the track up across many layers, but opting for a bigger drop and tougher aggressive approach and sound. Having a resulting feeling of a darker edge throughout the track, they’ve expanded on the original and brought it up a notch for a more later night sound.

Mighty Dub Katz - Magic Carpet Ride '07 [Southern Fried]
An essential and timely update for the Souther Fried classic “Magic Carpet Ride” with killer mixes from Claude VonStroke and The Young Punx. The down right dirty and master of more “off the wall” interesting tracks and remixes of late Claude VonStroke provides the specialist mix. Already gaining support from Tong, Erol Alkan, Smokin Jo, Mason and Mike Monday, you soon get the idea why. Taking the Katz funky classic into pure unadulterated Dirty electro territory, Von Stroke’s done the business. Full steam ahead gritty, dark carved beats, with a pure “4am” style bass and sound, you know this is going to punish the sound system. He uses the vocal to great effect, changing the pitch, making it sound far more sinister in contrast to the happy uplifting Original, then slides into a full throttle breakdown. Weird mind warping sounds and downright dirty before kicking back in, this ones going to blow up a party, excellent! The Young Punx mix uses more elements of the original track, and they opt for an up for it party house vibe and theme, for a more crossover mix. As usual, a funky and bouncy energetic bassline fuels the mix, and catchy bleepy noises and effects keep it interesting all the way through, a peak time happy updated mix for the masses.

Michael Gray - Somewhere Beyond [Eye Industries]
Dirty House & Electro’s freshest star Richard Dinsdale gets busy on the remix for the chart bothering Michael Gray (Weekend/ Borderline) which both previously went on to be top 10 UK Hits. With the vocal talents of Steve Edwards who’s collaborated with Axwell and Bob Sinclar, you have a lush summer anthemic catchy chorus led groove. Eye Industries have enlisted a massive remix package with extra re-workings from Alex Santos, TV Rock and DJ DLG. Richard Dinsdale yet again does what he knows best, dirty groove injected electro styled house with that little twist you get from him, that really works on a dance floor. With both a Vocal and Dub provided, you can pick what’s best to cater for you floors needs. His remix itself has a cooler use of the vocal, which in turn makes it seem less of a summer song, and more cut up styled and hooky led snippets used until later on in the track, this style really has an effective working on the floor. With the usual speaker freaking sounds and extra elements created by Dinsdale, you have an extremely catchy remix. TV Rock at the moment are having a phase of tearing up anything they touch, and again deliver a fine groove mix, with a tougher house sound and smooth invigorating breakdown. Alex Santos opts for a more minimal sound approach, using a lot of the vocal still, whilst it may not be pure minimal, it still has a broad appeal. Dj DLG goes for another big room hands in the air house slant, he always packs in some energy and flow and a good solid direction as ever makes it a peak time funky flavour winner. With mass support from all the usual house suspects, it looks like another bomb.

The Dial Freaks - Continental Mistress / 28157 [Loöq Records]
It’s the first time I’ve listened to music from San Francisco’s based Loöq Records, and from the track names, I knew it would be a bit different to the pile of current tunes in circulation. The label categorizes itself as “innovative, forward thinking music from every corner of the Earth”. For this release, Brian Cox and J.D. Moyer team up for some techy/ progressive goodness. Brian Cox is an artist whose roots are deep in the realms of Detroit techno, obscure early jazz, and shortwave radio recordings. Add this to the mix with J.D. Moyer’s orientation of mental spaces, and the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, you have a resulting unique partnership and fresh sounding production. Continental Mistress has a broad tech house feeling to it, with some cool elements and a broody bassline. They’ve used a Juno keyboard and a guitar and you get a pounding edge brought to the mix, whilst the tempos not ultra fast, it builds to an intensity of sound with some high frequency effects. This is music for the long stay nights. 28157 has two mixes to choose from, the Original is a tech influenced bass track, with an electronica feeling, and shortwave radio transmissions all cooked up into the mix for some obscure sounding beats and sounds. The Iceland Spar Mix opts for a more energetic sound with a cool low bass bleep feeling, but still maintains the vibe of the Original and utilizes the obscure electronica element well, but with just a little more depth, energy and flow for a floor. If you like the more intellectual tech, progressive sounds and styles of dance music you will want to check this EP out.

Mark Wilkinson & Nanchang Nancy - Playground Stuff [Phonetic]
Hot on the heals of there Buzz Chart number 1 'Gotta Move' and with the sun starting to shine, Phonetic showcase an exciting new project by Mark Wilkinson of (Dab Hands fame) with 5 heavyweight remixes. As usual from the man behind Phonetic (Rob Roar), you always get a great song, and this one’s no stranger, the vocals of Nanchang Nancy give it what’s already been described as a “Basement Jaxx’esque” styled twist. The Original is typical Mark material, which he does ever so well, good feeling uplifting beats and happy house feeling and a cool vocal song all blended together for igniting and shaking a funky floor. Jay Lamar supplies a big vocal houser, with a chunky feeling throughout it. Slightly more energetic then the original and a little more modern sounding styled house without going to electro sounding or on the other hand to soft, a balanced mix. FNUK bring us a slightly more driving mix, grittier bassline and sound and a little more energy. A funky chunky bass with a cool sound is the main drive of the mix, which adds that little more depth to the sound and makes it appealing to a slightly later crowd and time of night. The Hooked Explosive Dub has a more chugging sounding edge and style, a floor builder if ever you heard one and loopy feeling, being in a hot location and the late summer nights benefit and suit this mix. Parallel Sound finishes things off with a more hypnotic feeling house floor mix, that has a cooler smoother vibe going on and deeper house arrangement. If you like your house music with a catchy groovy song, this ones for you.

Dylan Rhymes & Jono Fernandez - Breathe [Lot49]
After the sublime sounds of Vandal's "Idiots" (which is still kicking it on the scene) Lot49 follow on with one of their longest serving artists, Dylan Rhymes, who teams up with Jono Fernandez for a filthy onslaught of acid squelching breaks and tech funk. The Original has a rich bank of analogue bass stabs and uses the undertone of Seany B's vocals to great effect with a power kicking peak time mix, really has some good electro tinged elements and sounds, but not too electro sounding, and maintains an intertwined breaks and 4/4 feel to it throughout, as ever in keeping with the Lot49 style. For the break beat purists, Lot49 in-list General Midi, another scene stalwart, who utilizes the vocal hook and adds a bigger rocky beat, with more fatness and depth. He's kept the energy of the Original, but given a slightly different twist, you can imagine this one going off on the floor, he's given a pure mix for the breaks DJs. Dylan Rhymes provides an Acid remix, which for me, is the leading mix. It combines different influences, and brings the track into the realms of cross genre, and has a cool acid line running through it which really works and lifts the overall vibe to a different level, but also gives an appealing sound to Electro, House, Breaks and even Techno styled Dj's. Seany B's vocals are brought out to work with the mood of the acid line and some hard floor styled squelchy sounds blends together really well. With a strong essential underground sound, but modern approach and lots of energy and power, this one really works.

Subsource - This Town [Spin Out Records]
Following on from the massive tracks Swain & Paris ‘Come As One’ and Richard Dinsdale ‘She Wants Me' Spin Out have yet again gone the distance to provide another cracking nu breed modern genre dance track. ‘This Town’ is a peak time breaks anthem from Surrey based live dance act Subsource and features a strong remix package. Heading up the package is Hook & Sling, who recently have shot to fame with there Buzz Chart No. 1 'The Bump' track. Tough and electro house induced beats collided with analogue synths is the order of the day. A pumped up and injected really choppy style gated bass makes it all a winner for the dance floor and dirty dancing moments. Simpleton goes a step further on a different approach with a tougher, darker electro-house mix, with more of an electronica element and style to it, very appealing to a cross section of Dj’s. Opting for a far more gritty feeling and a big electro bassline, you have peak time go off material. Lost in London supply a mix, in keeping to the original breaks formula, but a little more club sound orientated. Whilst the Original mix has the “live” feel, this mix is more electronic and for the floor with a solid break under the vocal and heavy synth stabs. Found on Friday completes with the breaks but gives it a new bassline and new breakdown to supply a different twist for proceedings. Available to buy on Vinyl from all good stockists from the 16th of April, and digital stores.

Stereo Mutants Feat Jannae Jordan - I Wanna Go [Mutated Music]
Si Gordon & Piers Kirwan aka The Stereo Mutants are 2 dj & producers who since the late 80's have slowly moved up and worked their way into the global house music network.
They have been producing many a house production from DigiPlay Studios based in Newquay (Cornwall), and have gained a vast, and successful catalogue of original productions and remixes that already have appeared on labels such as Defected, Hardsoul, Delecto, Bubble Soul, Cayenne, Club star and many more. The result is a strictly true house sound and vibe, fusing percussive tribal rhythms, latin melodies, live bass, vocals and acoustic guitar. For the 3rd Mutated Music Release, we see a slamming set of remixes of the latest Mutants homegrown material. Central Avenue sets us off with his "Miami Mix". A real floor shaker, with cool vocal use and manages to bring an uplifting edge, with a flowy vibe, it really works. A really nice breakdown with a strong feeling to it adds to make the whole track sit as a Very dance-floor inspired mix. Lots of building up here and there makes all the difference on this one. Also Central Avenue supplies a Dub mix, and yet again it is really slamming, even though it has a very instrumental musical vibed flow to it. Dj Circle's mix is a laid back loungey styled affair, this is one for the more strictly "heads" mixes, it warmly makes the vocal seem really singy and drenched in soulful-ness. To finish of the package, chill out heavyweight Afterlife brings the pace down, and yet again creates a truly mesmerizing piece of music. Managing to capture you from start to finish with the sublime and real sounds created with great depth. Whilst it may not be an obvious choice for most dj sets, the whole track is a journey and really brings out the feeling of the vocal, and song in particular, to great effect.

Splitter - All Alone [Eye Industries]
Dutch maestro Martijn Ten Velden and one half of the Stanton Warriors Mark Yardley team up for the first time, resulting in a dance rock fusion of electronic music. A really simple but yet highly effective bassline drives the track forward into a really deep male vocal, which co-works alongside the arrangement. The result together makes a very moody song, with a darker edge, that’s very hitting on the floor, again very simple, but catchy. Lots of little effects here and there spice it up and twist the arrangement up well into an almost electro/electronica styled lead, as usual a key prominent part that you would expect from Martijn. The electronica aspect really works and what starts out as a sparse track turns into a full loaded jam packed floor hitter that surprises you with its catchy song and vibe. You have to hear the full track to get what Martijn and mark have created together, but the word fusion really sums up the partnership. A great underground record from Eye Industries that’s not too obvious, remixes to follow.

Turbofunk - Gotta Move [Phonetic Recordings]
Starting the year off with a fresh sounding release from the mysterious Turbofunk, Phonetic have yet again proved there worth for searching out cutting edge new dance music. Packed with lots of French house influences, Daft Punk esque beat and groove, it flows along with a catchy loopy vocal hook and phat chunky bass. Easily fitting into a cross section of styles and sets, this funky number has a real electronic slant to it, really working a dance floor with its beaty flow and direction. A Male styled vocal with a vocoder effect really hits the mark. This is always influenced by the French house sound with loopy electronic bass; the contrasting female vocal really makes the track retain its funk element. A very distinctive sounding track for Phonetic that will gain a cross section of fans, one listen and your ears and feet are pretty much hooked.
Remixes come in from Trent Cantrelle & Chris Cox who have made a more housed up affair and direction with there take. More of a phatter bassline mix, that stays prominent throughout, it has a less multi influenced mix, and aims itself straight at the house floors. Having a nice impact on the floor with its feeling, this starts up as a good straight up funky led mix that later develops into more chunky house with a solid kick and works the loops here and there for a great effect.
Air Bureau, who remixed the last Cassius single supply a fully loaded French house remix, lots of strong influences thrown in, but worked equally well and working the cut up loopy feeling to the max on the breakdown, really feeling the Original mix, but adding the next level and dimension for a retro collided modern take. Release Date: End March 2007.

Richard Dinsdale - She Wants Me [Spin Out Records]
He's risen fast, and created a right little niche for himself, and yet again he's done it. Pure dirty jackin' electro with that essential Dinsdale bassline, which just simply works the hell out of a dance floor. Bouncy and moving bass with a robotic female vocal and electronic bleeps, added dirty builds and cuts that are designed to purely slam the mix with the sub bass, you’ve got another winner. The track itself is pretty relentless with its sound and gives a right good thrashing of the system, catchy little sample and cuts and the bassline make it a very effective floor cut, watch this one go off, a must to have.
Si McEvoy (of Spin Out fame) who recently remixed Swain & Paris’s “Come as One” yet again steps up to the table for a more up tempo mix. Adding a more stabby and gritty bassline to the mix, which builds and creates a nice energy. After the second breakdown the pace is lifted and cranked with yet another cool sub bass. Watch this man this year. Finishing things off is Meat Katie and his Tech Funk sound, more of a darker veined mix, mutating up the parts to form another hybrid sound, solid tough peak time killer breaks meets house meets techno almost, yet again proving why he’s unique. Yet again, another fine and essential release for Spin Out, who simply keep proving time and time again, to be an underground label with style.

Vandal - Idiots [Lot49]
Fresh from there "Space Age EP" by 30Hz, and Lot49 pave the way forward in 2007 with another firing breaks meets house - meets electro - meets techno hybrid. The Original mix throws down some serious breakbeat and a filthy bassline alongside a cracking vocal of "The Idiots have taken over". Incredibly catchy floor shaking material that gives the floor its due, with a further choppy styled vocal it really hits the mark.
The remix is supplied by Audiojack, who in turn take us on another path. Completely over hauling the original into a distinct and creative fusion of dark gritty beats, and a filthy electro styled vibe. The vocal is punched up more and made to create the feeling of an even more darker edged late night vibe, with raw bleepy noises, they've really made it into one hell of a twisted remix for sure. Really working the flow, with lots of noises, combined with strong depth of sound and intense building broody bass which in turns makes the vocal seem even more fitting. Cascading drops and raw feeling makes it spooky too. This one will get some serious attention, and heavy rotation due to its intense sound and sheer floor filling vibe. If your looking for pure filth, this
